From Stars to Earth
About this Event
From exploding stars to a changing Earth. We are made of star stuff, but the planet we call home is anything but quiet.
Join us at the Blake Planetarium for an extraordinary journey from the birth of the elements in distant stars to the powerful forces that continue to shape our planet today.
Our first feature, Spark: The Universe in Us, takes audiences on a journey across space and time to discover where the essential ingredients of our universe, and ourselves, came from. From the air we breathe to the ground beneath our feet, the elements that make up our Solar System, our planet, and our bodies were forged through the lives and deaths of stars. Travel through the cosmos to witness the remarkable story of how these life-giving elements came to exist and ultimately became part of Earth, and us.
Then turn your attention from the distant universe to the powerful forces beneath our feet in Our Violent Planet. Earth may be our home, but it is a dynamic and sometimes unpredictable world. Explore the science behind earthquakes, volcanoes, and tsunamis and discover how these dramatic events provide scientists with clues about Earth's interior and the movement of tectonic plates.
From the explosive lives of stars to the explosive forces shaping our planet, these two immersive experiences reveal a dynamic connection between the universe and the world we call home. Discover how the story of Earth is, in many ways, a story written across the cosmos.
