They've been traveling through space for billions of years. Now we're learning how to find them, understand them, and even change their course. Join us at the Blake Planetarium for an exciting journey into the world of asteroids and an exploration of the stars and constellations that light up the winter night sky.

Our feature presentation, Asteroid Quest, takes audiences on a journey into the fascinating world of these ancient remnants of our Solar System. For billions of years, asteroids have preserved clues about the formation of the planets and the creation of Earth. Today, scientists are sending spacecraft across the Solar System to study these mysterious worlds up close.

Travel alongside the missions that have visited asteroids, collected samples, and brought pieces of these ancient objects back to Earth. Discover the surprising findings that are changing what scientists thought they knew about these primitive space rocks.

But asteroids aren't simply pieces of the Solar System's ancient past. Some travel on paths that cross Earth's orbit, raising an important question: What could we do if an asteroid were ever headed our way? Discover how scientists are learning to detect and track potentially hazardous asteroids and explore the remarkable technology that could one day allow us to deflect one from its path.

Following the feature, turn your attention to the winter night sky with Seasonal Stargazing. Discover some of the brightest and most recognizable stars and constellations visible during the winter months. Learn how to find familiar patterns in the sky, discover interesting star names and stories, and find out what's happening overhead this season.

From ancient asteroids that hold clues to Earth's beginnings to brilliant stars visible from our own backyard, this program offers an exciting opportunity to explore both the history of our Solar System and the wonders of the winter sky.
