From Stardust to the Edge of the Universe
About this Event
You are made of the universe and there is far more to it than you can imagine. Join us at the Blake Planetarium for an awe-inspiring journey across space and time, from the formation of the first atoms to the vast structures that stretch across the universe.
Our first feature, We Are Stars, explores the remarkable connection between the universe and life on Earth. Travel back to the earliest moments of the cosmos and follow the formation of hydrogen atoms through the lives and deaths of stars, where elements such as carbon are created. Discover how these elements eventually became the building blocks of planets, living things, and ultimately, us. We Are Stars reveals the extraordinary cosmic story behind the matter that makes up our world and our bodies.
Then, prepare to experience the sheer scale of the universe in Passport to the Universe. Journey from our own Solar System outward through the Milky Way and beyond, traveling all the way to the immense Virgo Supercluster before returning home. Along the way, experience an astronaut's-eye view of the incredible stars, planets, galaxies, and other objects that make up our universe.
Narrated by Tom Hanks, Passport to the Universe offers a breathtaking perspective on the enormous scale of the cosmos while celebrating humanity's ability to explore, imagine, and understand worlds far beyond our own.
Together, these two immersive experiences tell a powerful story: we are connected to the universe not only because we live within it, but because the very elements that make us were created by it.
Come discover where we came from and just how vast the universe really is.
