Under One Sky: Stories, Stars & the Moon

Look up and discover the stories people have told about the stars and the science behind our closest celestial neighbor. Join us at the Blake Planetarium for a journey through stories, cultures, and science as we explore the night sky and take a closer look at the Moon.

Our first feature, Skylore From Planet Earth: Orion, takes audiences around the world through stories inspired by different cultures and Indigenous societies. Using the constellation Orion as a guide, discover how people from different places have looked toward the same stars and created their own stories, traditions, and interpretations of the night sky.

This immersive experience celebrates the many ways humans have connected with the stars while reminding us that, no matter where we live, we all share the same sky.

Then turn your attention closer to home with Eclipses and Phases of the Moon. Explore Earth's closest celestial companion and discover why the Moon appears to change shape throughout the month. Learn about the Moon's orbit, phases, craters, and eclipses, and discover why the Moon can sometimes take center stage, even briefly blocking the light of the Sun.

Together, these two experiences invite audiences to explore both the stories we tell about the sky and the science that explains it. From the familiar stars of Orion to the ever-changing face of the Moon, discover why humans have been looking up in wonder for thousands of years.

TICKETS ARE SOLD ONLINE ONLY. NO TICKETS WILL BE SOLD AT THE DOOR.

Please note that we are a ticketless venue. When you buy your ticket online, you are immediately added to our attendee list, so there is no need to print your ticket or present an e-ticket. You can simply check in with your name and a smile.
