A colour-making workshop with Ione Maria Rojas for those exercising their right to roam
What colours and materials can we make from the land? And what is revealed to us when we do so?
Come and find out with artist and ink maker Ione Maria Rojas as she takes you through a series of simple colour-making recipes, inspired by the land underneath our feet.
The workshop will include:
- an intro to Ione's land-based practice, including a live ink-making demo
- an opportunity to make your own earth-based pigment & an 'instant ink'
- an explanation of longer colourmaking methods (used for waste stream products and tree ingredients)
- sharing of values regarding reciprocity, connection to land and the more-than-human
- intuitive/automatic drawing and mark making activities
Materials will be provided but please bring along an empty jar or two if you'd like to take your colours home with you.
