Growing more than Food, Growing Community
About this Event
Join us every week at Maloca Community Garden, a welcoming community garden where we get together to grow food, take care of the land, learn new skills through free workshops, and make new connections.
For the past three years, Black Environmental Initiative (BEI) has been creating opportunities for young people to connect with the land and with one another.
This year, we are offering the Roots for Resilience program(Urban Agriculture) and the Beyond Provision Grounds program( Urban Forestry) every week, respectively Mondays and Wednesdays.
Whether you're interested in gardening, environmental action through urban greening, meeting new people, improving your well-being, or simply spending time outdoors, there is a place for you here.
No experience is required.
Each week may include:
- Gardening and growing food
- Tree planting and urban forestry activities
- Workshops and guest speakers
- Community meals
- Inspiring discussions
- Wellness and mindfulness activities
- Documentary Screenings in the Garden
- Opportunities to volunteer and develop leadership skills
