HIStory Through HERitage III
About this Event
Join us for the third annual History x Heritage, an immersive gathering where history, arts, culture and embodiment converge through a matrifocal lens.
Hosted by Jayden and Maia, History x Heritage is dedicated to exploring pre-historic, pre-dynastic and pre-colonial African history and its relationship to world civilization while honouring the complementary partnership between masculine understanding and feminine embodiment.
This year’s theme invites us into a deeper exploration of the relationship between the womb, the Earth and the cosmos, examining how ancient high cultures developed in harmony with seasonal cycles and how this understanding informed the origins of agriculture and civilization itself.
Set amidst the beauty of Zawadi Farm, this year’s experience extends beyond lecture and discussion into community, ritual and direct relationship with the land. We will begin the day with a traditional Ethiopian coffee ceremony, followed by nourishing refreshments, light snacks and opportunities for fellowship throughout the gathering.
As part of our integration, participants will take part in a hands-on workshop on the farm, engaging directly with the soil and exploring humanity’s ancestral relationship with cultivation, stewardship and the living world.
Together, we will explore:
• The Great Lakes region of the African continent as the generative cradle and “womb” of African civilization.
• The development of cosmography throughout the Nile Valley and how ancient peoples cultivated an understanding of celestial and terrestrial cycles through the wisdom and rhythms embodied by women.
• The origins of agriculture and civilization, and the co-regency of man and woman that made possible the flourishing of humanity’s earliest high cultures.
More than a lecture, History x Heritage III is an invitation into remembrance—a space where scholarship, ritual, movement and community come together to bridge intellect and embodiment, and to cultivate a deeper relationship with our ancestors, one another and the living Earth.
We would be honoured to have you join us as we celebrate the third year of this unfolding journey.
