This session is ideal for assessors, tutors, IQAs, delivery partners, and learning practitioners who want to ensure their approach reflects the latest guidance on valid, authentic assessment practice. Whether you're new to ILM Skills qualifications or looking to refresh and align your approach, this workshop will equip you with the tools and confidence to deliver high‑quality assessment in line with current requirements.
Event Agenda
During this workshop, we will explore best practice portfolio requirements as outlined in the official City & Guilds/ILM portfolio pack, including:
- What constitutes valid, naturally occurring evidence, and when simulation is appropriate
- How to integrate evidence holistically across units without compromising assessment integrity
- The importance of focusing on quality over quantity, ensuring evidence is clear, sufficient and mapped accurately to Learning Outcomes and Assessment Criteria (LOs/ACs)
- Approaches to maintaining authenticity, including handling plagiarism, referencing, and appropriate/ethical use of AI by learners
- Making effective use of professional discussions, reflective accounts, assessor observations and workplace products to build strong evidence portfolios
- How to prepare portfolios for IQA and EQA sampling, including use of high‑level evidence matrices and structured recording templates
