Unique Stone Setting for Thick Cabochons explores a practical alternative for tall stones that may not work well in a standard bezel setting. You’ll learn how to construct a frame that accommodates the stone’s height and use prongs to hold it in place.
You can choose to turn your setting into either a ring or pendant, giving you room to adapt the project to your stone and preferred style.
This intermediate-level class is best suited to students who are comfortable using basic jewelry-making tools and following a multi-step bench process.
Your instructor, Kim St. Jean, is Tucson Jewelry School’s resident artist and has more than 25 years of jewelry-making teaching experience. She’ll guide you through building the frame, accounting for your stone’s height, and constructing the prong setting.
