Soldering Intensive - In-Person Jewelry Class

Move beyond simply following soldering steps and develop a better understanding of what is happening at the bench.
In Soldering Intensive, you’ll practice four different approaches to soldering: placement, pick, stick, and paste. As you use these techniques to create a simple chain, you’ll also explore the science behind soldering and the factors that help solder flow successfully.
The finished chain provides a practical structure for repeating each method and observing how the techniques differ. The real focus is building greater control, confidence, and intention when soldering future jewelry projects.
This class welcomes beginners who want a guided introduction as well as experienced students who want to refine their technique. Kim St. Jean will walk through the process step by step and help students better understand why solder sometimes flows—and why it sometimes fails.
Kim is Tucson Jewelry School’s resident artist and has more than 25 years of jewelry-making teaching experience.
