Discover how loops of wire can be knitted together to create a beautiful, flexible handmade chain.
In Viking Knit, you’ll learn an age-old wire-working technique traditionally used to construct versatile chain. You’ll form the wire into a repeating woven structure and learn how a draw plate helps refine the weave into a more even, polished chain.
The rhythmic, repetitive process makes this a satisfying project for students who enjoy wirework, chain making, and detail-focused techniques.
All experience levels are welcome. Beginners can follow the process with step-by-step guidance, while returning students can concentrate on improving the consistency and finish of their weave.
Your instructor, Kim St. Jean, is Tucson Jewelry School’s resident artist and has more than 25 years of jewelry-making teaching experience. She’ll guide you through starting the weave, building the chain, and refining it through the draw plate.
