Soldering Mixed Metals to Create a Pendant - In-Person Jewelry Class

Expand your soldering skills beyond sterling silver and explore the creative possibilities of mixed metals.
In Soldering Mixed Metals to Create a Pendant, you’ll work with common base metals such as copper, red brass—also known as jeweler’s brass—and yellow brass, with nickel listed as an optional material.
You’ll explore how these metals behave under heat and what you need to consider when bringing them together through soldering. You’ll then apply those techniques while constructing a mixed-metal pendant.
The class description welcomes all experience levels, though students who are already comfortable using basic jewelry-making tools and following a multi-step bench process will be best prepared for the project.
Your instructor, Kim St. Jean, is Tucson Jewelry School’s resident artist and has more than 25 years of jewelry-making teaching experience. She’ll guide you through the considerations involved in soldering different metals and incorporating them into your pendant design.

Place: Tucson Jewelry School – 2520 N Oracle Rd, Tucson, AZ 85705
