The Woman Behind the Care
About this Event
Behind every act of care is a woman with her own story, needs, health, emotions and hopes.
The Woman Behind the Care is a warm, uplifting and restorative community event created especially for women family caregivers — and this year, it's intergenerational. Young people are welcome too, spending the morning at our holiday camp before families come together for the afternoon.
This afternoon will offer space to pause, connect, learn and be supported — with conversations around brain health, memory, menopause, mental health, emotional wellbeing, respite and practical support.
Whether you care for a parent, partner, child, relative, friend or neighbour, this event is for you. It is a chance to step away from the daily demands of caring and be reminded that your wellbeing matters too.
What to expect
• Gentle conversations around caregiving, emotional wellbeing and support
• Information on brain health, memory and menopause

• Mental health and respite support guidance

For families
Young people (aged 11) are welcome to drop off at our holiday camp from 11am. From 12:30pm, parents and carers join and the day becomes a shared, intergenerational session — including lunch together — with a craft and activity corner available for young people throughout. Pick-up is at 3:15pm (please note this is slightly later than our usual 3pm camp finish). Our holiday camp welcomes children aged 6 and up, who will be supervised by Floating staff. If your child is under 6, a parent or carer must supervise them directly.
Who is this for?
This event is for women family caregivers, including mothers, daughters, partners, relatives and friends who provide unpaid care or emotional support to someone in their life — along with their children.
Come as you are. You do not need to have everything figured out — this is a space for encouragement, connection and care.
