About this Event

The Power of a Personal Manifesto
Thursday 24 April 2026 | Half-day

Why This Workshop Is Different

This experience is unique to the Rest Rise Reclaim™ community.

Many leadership spaces talk about values. This workshop offers culturally grounded work rooted in identity, rest, resilience, and the lived experiences of women of colour.

The workshop blends:

  • Reflective writing
  • Intention-setting
  • Culturally grounded conversation
  • Embodied African yoga movement
  • Heritage and empowerment

This combination is rarely offered elsewhere.

The workshop is open to Black women, women of colour, and allies.

What Is a Personal Manifesto?

A personal manifesto is more than a statement. It is a declaration of who you are, what you stand for, and the direction you are choosing for the next season of your life.

In a world that constantly demands more, a manifesto brings you back to yourself. It offers clarity, confidence, and courage, especially for women navigating identity, leadership, transition, or reinvention.

This half-day Rest Rise Reclaim™ workshop is designed to help you create that clarity.

Through guided reflection, culturally grounded conversation, and embodied African yoga movement, you will craft a powerful document that anchors your voice, honours your lived experience, and supports the choices you make moving forward.

The session opens with a short African yoga inspired practice led by Deo Simire Mubalama. This embodied opening supports grounding, nervous system regulation, and presence before the reflective manifesto work begins. The primary focus of the day remains on manifesto development, with movement offered as a purposeful and restorative way to settle the body and mind.

Why Create a Personal Manifesto?

Real, Tangible Benefits

A manifesto becomes a practical tool you can use long after the workshop ends. Participants will gain:

1. Clarity of Direction
You leave knowing what matters, what you are prioritising, and what no longer has permission to drain your energy.

2. Confidence in Your Leadership Voice
A manifesto strengthens your sense of identity and presence, especially powerful for Black women and others whose voices have historically been overlooked.

3. Guidance for Decision-Making
When opportunities arise, you can ask:
“Does this align with my manifesto?”
This reduces overwhelm and helps prevent burnout.

4. Boundaries That Protect Your Wellbeing
Your manifesto becomes a compass that helps you say yes with intention and no without guilt.

5. A Framework for Personal or Professional Growth
You will walk away with a document you can build on, refine, and turn into a long-term roadmap.

FAQS

1. How can this workshop support someone embarking on writing a book for the first time?

For women considering writing a personal, leadership, or lived-experience book, a manifesto becomes:

  • A creative anchor that keeps the writing voice consistent
  • A clarity tool for deciding which parts of your story matter most
  • A confidence booster when imposter syndrome appears
  • A touchstone to stay connected to your “why” during challenging writing phases

I used my own personal manifesto while writing Rest Rise Reclaim: Leadership Life Lessons for Black Women Who Lead. It helped me stay aligned, truthful, and steady. Many attendees share that their manifesto becomes the first seed of future writing projects.

2. How can a manifesto support solo entrepreneurs?

For women building something on their own, whether a consultancy, coaching practice, creative business, or community, a manifesto is a powerful business tool:

  • It sharpens your brand identity
  • It informs your messaging, tone, and public voice
  • It helps you stay consistent across platforms
  • It guides your pricing, partnerships, and priorities
  • It acts as an inner contract about what you will and will not compromise

Solo entrepreneurship can feel isolating. A manifesto becomes a grounding document that keeps purpose at the centre of your work.
