WEEK 18 Intermediate
Ant Acid. The Ant Acid is a modern dry fly pattern designed to imitate a terrestrial ant, a key food source for trout during warmer months. It features a two-toned body made from dubbing with a pronounced segmented shape to mimic an ant’s profile, along with rubber legs and a deer hair wing. The tight wound dubbing allows it to float high on the water, even in turbulent currents. It should be fished using a dead drift, especially near overhanging vegetation or along banks where ants are likely to fall into the water. The Ant Acid is highly effective during late spring through fall when terrestrial insects are abundant.
