Can democracy truly deliver inclusion and equality? In this keynote, Lyn Ossome (MISR, Makerere University) explores democracy through the lens of African feminist thought, political economy, and decolonial scholarship, examining how democratic systems depend on invisible, undervalued labour disproportionately borne by women, and how democratic transitions can reproduce gendered exclusion rather than overcome it.
