About this Event

From Procrastination to Productivity
Guided Group Hypnosis in Downtown Toronto (to join virtually, please refer to the FAQ)

A guided group hypnosis session designed to help you begin important tasks sooner, tolerate the discomfort of getting started, and follow through more consistently on the goals that matter to you.

You may know exactly what needs to be done.

The email must be written. The application must be submitted. The project must be started. The appointment must be booked. The workout must happen. Yet instead of beginning, you organize, research, scroll, tidy, plan, or wait for a more motivated version of yourself to appear.

Procrastination is not always a lack of ambition or discipline. It is often an attempt to avoid a particular feeling: uncertainty, boredom, frustration, effort, possible failure, or the discomfort of producing something imperfect.

This session uses guided hypnosis to help you respond differently to that moment—so that discomfort no longer automatically becomes delay.

This session may be especially helpful if you:

  • Consistently postpone tasks you genuinely intend to complete
  • Wait until pressure becomes urgent before beginning
  • Feel overwhelmed by projects that contain many steps
  • Spend more time planning, researching, or preparing than acting
  • Avoid tasks that feel tedious, ambiguous, or emotionally uncomfortable
  • Struggle to begin unless you feel motivated or inspired
  • Abandon routines after missing one day
  • Become immobilized by perfectionism or fear of doing something badly
  • Have difficulty following through on personal, academic, creative, or professional goals
  • End the day feeling busy without having completed the work that mattered most

What to Expect

The session begins with a brief introduction to the evening’s theme. Participants may suggest particular patterns they would like addressed, such as task initiation, distraction, perfectionism, inconsistent motivation, avoidance, unfinished projects, exercise, studying, administrative work, or career goals.

You will then be guided through a shared hypnosis experience centred on ideas such as:

  • You do not have to feel motivated before you begin.
  • Starting imperfectly is more useful than waiting to begin perfectly.
  • A task can feel uncomfortable without being unbearable.
  • You can reduce a large project to the next visible action.
  • Progress does not require an ideal mood, uninterrupted focus, or complete certainty.
  • Five useful minutes are better than another hour spent negotiating with yourself.
  • You can pause and return without treating an interruption as failure.
  • Your future needs deserve consideration alongside your present desire for comfort.
  • Motivation often follows action rather than preceding it.
  • You can become someone who keeps reasonable promises to yourself.

Depending on the needs of the group, the session may also address phone use, fear of failure, fear of success, difficulty prioritizing, all-or-nothing thinking, low confidence, boredom, or the tendency to become productive only when a deadline creates panic.

The exact content varies slightly from one session to another, while the central purpose remains the same: helping you shorten the distance between deciding and doing.

A Different Approach to Motivation

Many people assume that productive individuals possess more motivation than everyone else.

Often, they have simply learned not to make action dependent on motivation.

They begin while uncertain. They work while the task is still imperfectly defined. They tolerate a period of resistance without treating it as a reason to stop. Through repetition, beginning becomes less dramatic and therefore easier.

The goal of this session is not to make you work constantly or eliminate the need for rest. It is to help you distinguish intentional rest from avoidance—and to use your time in a way that reflects your actual priorities.

Productivity is not the amount of activity you can force into a day. It is the ability to direct appropriate effort toward what matters.

Who Can Attend?

No previous experience with hypnosis is required. You may participate quietly, and you will not be required to disclose your goals, unfinished tasks, or personal circumstances to the group.

You may attend with one specific task or goal in mind, or simply work on becoming more consistent in the way you begin and complete things.

Each session stands on its own. You are welcome to attend once or return regularly to reinforce the ideas and apply them to different goals.

This event is an educational and experiential group hypnosis session. It is not a diagnostic or individualized treatment program for ADHD, depression, anxiety disorders, or other conditions that may contribute to difficulties with motivation and executive functioning.
