All are invited to honor the dead of Parkland Cemetery by cleaning up this neglected sacred ground. Parkland Cemetery - also known as the Poor Farm Cemetery, Potter’s Field, County Hospital Cemetery and the Asylum Cemetery - is the resting place of many residents of the old Parkland Health Facility and the old Asylum, as well as many who couldn't afford a funeral. We will start at 1 pm and then do as much uncovering as we can. If there is rain we will work on Sunday October20th at 1 pm. Please bring work gloves, yard waste bags, and W**d whackers if you can.
Directions: The cemetery is located approximately three quarter of a mile west of the intersection of County Roads E & Z. Then look to the north, at the back of the first field and you will see the cemetery monument in the distance. The road that once led to the gate has long since overgrown. Turn south on Lyman Lake Rd which is almost directly under the bigger power lines to park. You will have to walk from there.
