Please join Resilient Cities Catalyst (RCC), the NYC Mayor’s Office of Climate and Environmental Justice (MOCEJ), and partners to experience firsthand the impact of neighborhood climate resilience projects co-designed with the community in Brownsville, Brooklyn.
During Climate Week NYC, RCC is hosting a Brownsville Resilience Corridor Interactive Walking Tour on September 22. As part of RCC’s Neighborhood Small Business Climate Resilience Program, this event will showcase work developed in close partnership with the NYC Mayor’s Office of Climate and Environmental Justice (MOCEJ), NYC Department of Small Business Services (SBS), Pitkin Avenue BID, and other agency, community, and project partners (view this video to learn more about featured projects).
Our interactive walking tour along the Pitkin Avenue Corridor will feature innovative, replicable, community-driven projects—including a bench integrated into a tree guard, an easily deployed pop-up shade, and a green-roof bus shelter—that are helping address extreme heat and flooding while supporting local businesses, enhancing public spaces, and strengthening neighborhood resilience. During the tour, you’ll have the opportunity to ask questions and learn more directly from project leaders–illuminating key lessons for similar pilot projects in NYC and beyond.
Come see these projects firsthand and learn how this pilot demonstrates how locally grounded climate action can inform scalable solutions, creating a model for more resilient, welcoming, and vibrant corridors across NYC.
