About this Event

Brooklyn Greenway Initiative and the New York Flora Association are hosting a Petal Pedal this summer! Join us for a bike ride where we'll stop and take a look at the birds using the greenway and adjacent or nearby greenspaces!
Local Nature Lab will lead this biking outing along the Brooklyn Waterfront Greenway. Starting at Pier 6 in Dumbo and ending at the Bushwick Inlet, stopping at the Naval Cemetery Landscape and perhaps other places where birds may catch our attention, where you'll identify birds at each location with the group.

Whether you're a biker, a greenway user, a nature lover, or aspiring bird watcher, this ride will deepen your appreciation for the plant world around you. Note that this is approximately a 5 mile route and that there will be frequent stops to watch the birds.

Please note that a donation is required to purchase a ticket on eventbrite for this event- to support Local Nature Lab and Brooklyn Greenway Initiative's work and to encourage attendance. If something comes up and you can no longer make it to the event please cancel your registration as this event has limited capacity. Choose your donation amount and then you will be able to add your ticket on the registration page.

Please note: there is limited shade at some stops- please wear sunscreen and/or a sun hat and bring a water bottle (water refill station available at the Greenway Botanical Garden and other stops).

Location

We will meet at Pier 6 in Brooklyn Bridge Park and bike together to the Naval Cemetery Landscape, and then to our final location at Bushwick Inlet Park

Before or after this event, speak to our gardeners and learn about the Greenway Botanical Garden at the Naval Cemetery (the Garden) and the Greenway and what goes into maintaining their beauty and accessibility for everyone! The Garden is fully operated, made open as a public space and able to provide free public programs like this solely by Brooklyn Greenway Initiative through the generosity of our supporters.
