Bramble & Wild Rose Baskets

An in-depth, two-day course learning all about bramble weaving. Make a (non-prickly) basket for foraging berries, mushrooms, etc, it hangs comfortably on your forearm. Also great for storing eggs etc in your kitchen. It’ll make you see brambles in a whole new light.
Bramble baskets is one of my most popular wild basketry courses. People love turning a (generally) unliked plant into something really useful and beautiful.
At the end of this in-depth course you’ll leave with all the knowledge you need to make a frame basket from start to finish with foraged wild plants.
What you’ll learn
Over two immersive days you’ll learn all about brambles: their ecology, how to select, harvest and process them. You will cut all your own brambles to weave with.
We’ll harvest wild rose on site, learning how and when to do this in a sustainable way.
Ruby will teach how to set this into a frame and ribs to create a well-shaped basket. You’ll learn knife skills to make your frame and prep your ribs.
As well as the weaving technique, you’ll learn how to bind the frame with a ‘God’s eye’. There will be samples of other types of frame baskets to inspire you.
Guided by Ruby through all the stages, you’ll leave knowing how to make a non-prickly bramble frame basket from start to finish.
