About this Event

4-Saturday Chainsaw Workshop Series

Developed by CCC instructor Em Roberts, this chainsaw workshop is for everyone interested in learning or improving chainsaw skills. No experience necessary. Students with career aspirations in arboriculture or forestry, as well as industry professionals are welcome.

This four-part workshop series progresses sequentially from foundational knowledge to applied skills, beginning with equipment maintenance and operation, followed by cutting-system maintenance, and culminating in applied chainsaw operation and tree-felling techniques.

International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) CEU’s, and Landscape Contractors Board (LCB) CEH's.

Registration deadline is July 15, 2026.



4-week Schedule:
July 18th - Chainsaw Maintenance: Power Head Systems
July 25th - Chainsaw Maintenance: Cutting Systems
August 1st - Chainsaw Safety and Cutting Techniques
August 8th - Principles and Practice of Tree Felling

Class meets in-person only: Saturdays, 9:00 AM - 3:30 PM

Student Expectations:

These workshops are Clackamas Community College courses.

All participants of this workshop will be campus students and expected to comply with the Clackamas Community College Student Code of Conduct guidelines to maintain a professional and respectful environment.


Participants should bring:

July Classroom-Based:

  • Well-fitted work gloves that provide grip while allowing dexterity
  • ANSI Z87-rated eye protection
  • Close-toed shoes
  • Clothing that can get dirty
  • Water bottle
  • Lunch

August Field-Based: Participants should be prepared for moderate physical activity and extended periods outdoors

  • Well-fitted work gloves that provide grip while allowing dexterity
  • ANSI Z87-rated eye protection; face shields are optional but encouraged
  • ANSI Z89-rated helmet with hearing protection
  • Chainsaw protective chaps or chainsaw protective pants
  • Sturdy work boots with ankle support and adequate traction
  • A whistle
  • Clothing that can get dirty
  • Water bottle
  • Lunch

Additional Information:

· Chainsaws and instructional equipment will be provided for participant use

· Participants may bring personal chainsaws for maintenance activities if desired



REFUND & CANCELLATION POLICIES:

CCC provides full refunds if you drop your classes on time. We do not provide partial refunds.

To receive a full refund, you must drop this workshop or request a refund at least 48 Hours Before the class begins.

Special Circumstances Refunds may be considered for emergencies or extenuating circumstances at the discretion of the organizers.

CCC Course Cancelations:

Workshops may be canceled due to insufficient registration, unforeseen events, or other factors.

If this workshop does get canceled, participants will be notified (through e-mail) and full refunds will be provided.
