Herbal Study Groups
About this Event
Want to learn more about herbs in a community setting from a practiced gardener, herbalist and environmental educator?
Join us at Lakeside Hall at the Environmental Learning Center for a weekly 90 minute series examining locally and seasonally accessible herbs that are generally safe for common use, providing a comprehensive introduction to best practices in western folk herbalism.
Each week we'll share and organize information about a single herb and its:
- Botanic identification and growing conditions
- Etymology, folklore and cultural significances
- Chemical constituents and researched effects
- Common preparations and (contra-) indications, applications
- Data and references
Other topics and best practices we'll cover:
- Ethical sourcing and healthy harvesting
- Keeping your collection in check
- Safely sharing with others
