Yoga Concert

As summer begins to wind down, local wellness duo Dana Humphrey and Onel Mulet are inviting the Rockaway community to slow down and come together for a unique evening of music, movement, and mindfulness.

On Sunday, August 16, from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m., the pair will present a free outdoor Yoga Concert at the 94th Street Amphitheater in Rockaway Beach, transforming the beloved beachfront gathering space into an open-air sanctuary of sound and relaxation.

The experience combines gentle guided movement and meditation led by Rockaway resident and yoga teacher Dana Humphrey with the soothing live flute and soundscape of musician Onel Mulet. Participants are encouraged to bring a yoga mat, towel, or beach chair and simply enjoy an hour of peace beside the ocean.

"Rockaway has always been a place where people come to heal, reset, and reconnect with nature," said Humphrey. "This offering is our way of giving back to the community and creating a space where everyone can pause, breathe, and share a beautiful experience together."

The donation-based event is open to all ages and abilities, and no prior yoga experience is necessary. Organizers hope the gathering will encourage neighbors, friends, and visitors to unplug for an hour and experience the restorative power of live music, mindful movement, and community connection.

Humphrey and Mulet have shared their signature blend of Yin Yoga and Live Flute Sound Baths at festivals, galleries, and wellness events throughout New York and beyond, but bringing the experience home to Rockaway holds special meaning.

"There's something magical about hearing live flute music with the sound of the ocean in the background and practicing together under the open sky," said Mulet. "We hope people leave feeling lighter, calmer, and more connected—to themselves and to each other."
