About this Event

Tree Canada, in collaboration with the Stanley Park Ecology Society, is excited to celebrate National Tree Day (NTD), presented by BMO. National Tree Day connects local action to national impact—when Canadians participate across the country, we grow a movement that reflects who we are and the future we want to build. Join us in Stanley Park to participate in invasive species removal, with a focus on English Ivy.

Tree Canada experts and experienced volunteers will be on hand to support you and answer your questions. We’ll provide gloves and shovels—all you need to bring is your enthusiasm!

How you'll be making an impact

Join us for this free volunteer event to help support forest restoration in Stanley Park by removing invasive plant species such as English ivy. Invasive species are the second greatest threat to biodiversity after habitat loss, and their removal helps native plants regenerate while preparing the area for future restoration. Volunteers will make a meaningful contribution to local habitat restoration and learn about the park's unique ecosystem.

Free Food:

Volunteers can grab a snack, courtesy of Vachon.

What to wear and bring:

Volunteers should wear and bring the following:

• Water bottle
• Sturdy, closed-toe shoes or boots
• Long pants
• Comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing
• Sunscreen
• Bug spray
• Hat
• Hand sanitizer

This rain or shine event will take place unless the forecast calls for thunderstorms or very heavy rainfall.

Meeting Point:

Meet at the grassy area beside Stanley Park Pavilion.

Parking:

Paid parking is available in Lot 62 (the trainyard parking lot).

Terrain:

Volunteers will be working on a natural forest floor with uneven terrain, roots, and fallen trees. Please be prepared to walk and work on uneven ground throughout the event.

Amenities:

Washrooms are available at the meeting point.

This is a community event. Businesses and corporations must contact us to reserve tickets for their teams.
