Join this half-day conference brought to you by King’s Improvement Science to hear how patient and public involvement (PPI) has made a real difference to the way that health research is conducted and healthcare is delivered in south London.

At KIS we believe that patient and public involvement is not an ‘add-on’; it is vital to delivering research that can improve care for diverse local communities. People with lived experiences ask the questions that need to be asked, and bring perspectives which enrich all aspects of delivery.

This event is for patients, service users, clinicians, health service managers, researchers and members of the public who share an interest in the power of PPI to improve healthcare.

The event will be accessible and interactive, and provide opportunities for informal networking. You can expect:

· Examples of where PPI has made a real difference to the way that health research is conducted and healthcare is delivered

· Hear from experienced public members and healthcare professionals about their experiences and expertise in a relaxed chat-show format

· Visit a marketplace of stalls showcasing how research projects have benefitted from and learned through their inclusion of PPI in a variety of contexts

· We will provide a light buffet lunch and refreshments

There will also be a range of opportunities for attendees to contribute to discussions about patient and public involvement work at King’s Health Partners and beyond.

The King’s Improvement Science (KIS) team are experts in the science of improving care and implementing change. We work closely with health and care teams in south-east London, to help them deliver the best possible outcomes and experiences for patients and staff.

We deliver a range of training, support and advice, and collaborate on research projects which aim to improve care and generate valuable new learning and evidence.

We are funded by King's Health Partners, an Academic Health Sciences Centre bringing together research, education and clinical practice across south-east London.

How does KIS work?

KIS works closely with teams within the King’s Health Partners’ NHS Trusts – Guy’s and St Thomas’, King’s College Hospital and South London and Maudsley – and actively collaborates with members of our diverse local communities to co-design our research, drawing on the insights of service users, and responding to local needs and priorities.
