About the Event: Lucius Reynolds is a Brisbane-based jazz pianist, currently in his 3rd year of study at JMI (Jazz Music Institute). For this evening, Lucius has brought together a quintet comprised entirely of current JMI students to explore the music of Charles Mingus, Thelonious Monk and McCoy Tyner. These three musicians were amongst the most forward-thinking and influential figures in jazz, and their compositional works sound as fresh today as they did when they were first recorded many decades ago.
The Lucius Reynolds Quintet hopes to communicate the varied moods and unique atmospheres that pervade the works of these three jazz legends, ensuring an enjoyable evening for all in attendance. Whether it’s the music of Mingus, Monk, or McCoy, one of these ‘M’s is sure to make you go “Mmm”!
The Lucius Reynolds Quintet consists of Lucius Reynolds (piano), Isaac Worland (bass), Lochlan Robinson (drums), Liam Taylor (trombone) and Sam Ryan (trumpet).
