About the Event: Mango Jam Big Band proudly returns to the Brisbane Jazz Club with a veritable smorgasbord of music - the Old, the New, the Borrowed and the Blue.
This 19-piece ensemble explores all facets of big band repertoire, presenting some vintage charts, original arrangements, fan favourites and of course a hearty detour through the blues.
Mango Jam is a big band built different, taking the power of the classic big band format and injecting it with a modern groove and an endless appetite to stand out from the pack. The ensemble has grown to be a common sight around South-East Queensland festivals and jazz clubs, and delighted a packed crowd last December with its inaugural appearance at Woodford Folk Festival.
With a dynamite rhythm section, some of the most incendiary horns in the game, and under the stern but benevolent leadership of musical director Allister Harrison, Mango Jam offers something for music-lovers everywhere.
