Join us for a fascinating and practical workshop exploring the hidden world of Adelaide’s native bees, butterflies, and their vital relationships with plants. Discover how these small but mighty pollinators support healthy ecosystems - and how you can help them thrive in your own backyard.
Presented by Adelaide author and passionate conservationist Shane Meyer, this session blends science, storytelling, and gardening inspiration.
You’ll learn:
• Deep dive into the native bees and pollinators you’re likely to spot and some of the less common species
• Simple ways to attract more pollinators to your garden
• The specific native plant species that support pollinators as host and nectar plants
• Why pollinators are essential for biodiversity
Shane is the author of the children’s books Belle the Blue Banded Bee and The Hungry Honeyeater, nurturing curiosity and care for nature in the next generation.
This session is part of the Alexandrina Greening & Wildlife project, a collaboration between Alexandrina Council and Second Nature, and is funded by Alexandrina Council and Green Adelaide.
