The Bog is Back Members Exclusive! Moth Morning with Garden of Moths

Join moth enthusiast Katie Andrews and Yorkshire Wildlife Trust for a special members-only moth trapping morning celebrating the reopening of Askham Bog Nature Reserve. We’ll gather around moth traps with the morning light to discover the remarkable nocturnal species that call Askham Bog home. From beautifully patterned hawk-moths to delicate wetland specialists, this relaxed guided session will shine a light on the reserve’s rich biodiversity and the importance of protecting these habitats. Katie will share fascinating insights into moth identification, ecology, and the key species that make Askham Bog such a unique wildlife site.

Perfect for nature lovers, photographers, families, and anyone curious about the hidden world of moths. Warm clothing and sturdy footwear are recommended, and all moths will be released unharmed after observation.

A ccessibility and terrain

The wooden boardwalk is accessible for wheelchair users and buggies. It is a short loop, with a sloped track from the carpark, which can be accessed at all times . Wellies are required for the rest of the site which is boggy with deep pools and ditches.

What to bring/wear

This event takes place outside so brace yourself for the Yorkshire weather! Sturdy footwear is always recommended.

Toilets and catering

There will be portaloos onside near the car park.

You're welcome to bring a drink and/or snack with you but please take your litter home with you.
