// SOMA METAXY: Dynamics of the Extended Body //The "extended body" is an experience we have at the intersection of the soma, the imaginal, and the environment. As a ritual movement practise, Soma Metaxy (which translates to "body between") can help us rebuild our sense of communion with the more-than-human world.
In this 2.5 hour class, Scout Rainer Wiley will lead a group of 30 humans through 6 movement meditation practises for dropping deeply into centre, exploring our periphery, and meeting the edges of our sense-gates.
Join Scout on December 6th at Haw Creek Commons to learn these techniques, which are inspired by Butoh, Laban-Bartinieff Movement Analysis, Neuro-Linguistic Programming, Reichian characterology, and more.
Admission is sliding scale, suggested donation is $15. There are 30 spaces available.

☆ Please arrive on time dressed in comfortable, dark-coloured clothing. This will make it easier to sustain our trance state.
☆ Bring a water bottle and arrive well fed. Tend to yourself in the days before to the best of your ability, as some of these practises may be taxing or challenging for some bodies. If you need to stop or take breaks during our practise, please do so.
☆ Some of these practises will require touch, eye contact, and being in close proximity with other bodies. If you have accessibility needs regarding any of this, please reach out to me ahead of time so I can plan to accommodate you.
☆ Please refrain from wearing any strong scents, jewellry, or scratchy materials and be mindful of the potential needs and sensitivities of the other bodies in the space.
☆ Please bring one portal object for the communal altar. In the practise in which I am trained, we often dance with ghosts, ancestors, and things that haunt us--things that exist in the world beyond. During this practise we will be reaching beyond the veil of the seen and inviting our senses to track subtle powers underlying the material. Bring an item that is meaningful to you in some way--ideally something that represents the Otherworld, underworld, or other unseen forces.
☆ Please also bring one or two small stones for the Stonewalking practise.
