Slow Fashion Kids #2 - Visible Mending Workshop
About this Event
Kids' Visible Mending Workshop – Patch, Create & Rewear
Turn worn clothes into wearable works of art!
In this fun and creative workshop, kids will discover that a hole, tear or stain doesn't have to mean the end of a favourite piece of clothing. Using colourful fabric patches and simple hand-stitching techniques, they'll learn how to transform damaged garments into one-of-a-kind creations while helping reduce textile waste.
As they stitch, they'll also explore the exciting world of slow fashion and discover how repairing, reusing and reimagining clothing is a simple way to care for both their wardrobe and the planet.
During this 1.5-hour workshop, participants will:
- Discover how creativity can give old clothes a brand-new life.
- Learn the basics of slow fashion and why repairing matters.
- Thread a needle and master simple hand-sewing stitches.
- Design and sew a fabric patch to repair a favourite garment.
- Take home a repaired garment (or one well underway), along with the skills and confidence to keep mending and creating at home.
Perfect for curious, creative kids who love making, designing and expressing their own style. No sewing experience is needed—just imagination and a willingness to have a go!
Want to learn more? This workshop is also the second of a 6-part series to teach children the skills of basic sewing. For more information, please go to our "Slow Fashion Sewing Series for Kids" workshop event page.
