Senior Gardening with Thorncliffe Park Urban Farmers

Event Overview
Join us for our Senior Garden Gatherings, a welcoming series of hands-on gardening workshops designed with older adults in mind—but open to everyone in the community.
In this session, participants will have the opportunity to learn and take part in regular gardening activities such as planting, watering, and harvesting while enjoying fresh air, gentle movement, and great company.
To ensure the sessions are comfortable and accessible, participants will not be expected to perform high-intensity tasks such as weeding, raking, shoveling, or using wheelbarrows. Sessions are relaxed, and seniors are encouraged to take breaks whenever needed.
Each workshop is 2 hours long and is supported by several TPUF volunteers who are available to provide guidance and assistance throughout the session.
We'll also provide:
- 🌱 Gardening instruction and hands-on activities
- ☕ Complimentary snacks and beverages
- 🍴 Food prepared during our mindful eating workshops (when available)
- 🎁 Raffle prizes, which typically include Yeti cups, TPUF swag, and gift cards

Finding the Garden
Walk toward the parking lot and continue past the entrance to the parking garage. Continue toward the fenced garden. The entrance gate is located in the centre of the fence.
We encourage our guests to use public transit, as it is convienient and eco-friendly. However, paid visitor parking is available at 53 Thorncliffe Park Drive. Please note spaces are limited. If the lots are full, additional free parking is available at the nearby library or shopping mall. Washrooms & Water
Washrooms and a water fountain are available inside the nearby library/community centre.
- Approximately 3 minutes on foot from the garden at 53 Thorncliffe Park Drive.
- Facilities are located downstairs in the community centre.
What to Bring
Please come prepared with:
- 💧 A reusable water bottle
- ☀️ Sun protection (hat, sunscreen, sunglasses, etc.)
- 👟 Closed-toe shoes suitable for gardening
- 😊 A positive attitude!
