朝・茶席|Morning Matcha Ceremony in the Garden
About this Event
立秋 has just passed — the Start of Autumn.
The mornings are the first to know.
This season, our Saturday tea ceremony moves to Sunday morning, and steps outside.
In the garden behind the café, before the shop opens, our resident Urasenke-certified instructor leads a seated ceremony in the open air — a practice known as nodate, tea taken outdoors, as it has been for centuries.
One hour. One bowl of matcha, whisked before you. The kind of quiet that is hard to find at any other time of day.
What to expect
— A guided ceremony from 9:30 to 10:30 am, seated on cushions in the garden
— Freshly whisked usucha and a seasonal wagashi
— No experience needed; your instructor will guide each movement
— Six seats
Dress comfortably for sitting low. Mornings in the garden run cool as the season turns — part of the pleasure of a warm bowl in your hands.
Should the weather turn, the ceremony moves indoors to the café, unhurried as ever.
