Run for a Reason*Falling within Recovery Month and ahead of this year's Mental Health Awareness Week (6th-12th October), we’re inviting you to join us in ****Run for a Reason.**** *
*Speed Freaks and our supporters have gently challenged the stigma surrounding addiction and opened courageous conversations about mental health and community well-being. Run for a Reason builds on this, inviting the community to run, walk or roll at our local track.*
*Celebrating those who have made courageous and brave changes, in support of those struggling, and to honour the memory of someone who has died through addiction or by suicide.*
**Taking place at local tracks in Auckland, Christchurch virtually and now New Plymouth, have a go at a 5km course 1-3 times. *
*You are welcomed to write your loved one’s name on your bib in place of your own, to honour, celebrate and remember.*
*With 50-80% of New Zealanders experiencing mental distress, addiction challenges or both in their lifetime and 1 in 5 people experiencing mental health and addiction challenges in any given year* - the aim of the event is to acknowledge, openly support and raise awareness of the challenges that many in our community face.*
*Funds raised from the event will directly support Speed Freaks participation in local / national events, volunteer costs and our iconic t shirts, earned through weekly running and walking commitment.*
