Are you a Responsible Individual for a Children's Home or planning to become one? Have you had training on what the role involves?
About this Event

Join us for an immersive, in-person session designed exclusively for Responsible Individuals (RIs) in children’s homes, whether you’re already registered or planning to step into the role. For the past decade, Valerie Turlock of CHQ has led this flagship programme, one of the very first to be developed in the sector following the 2015 Children’s Home Regulations. Now, responding to your demand and the unique advantages of face-to-face learning, Rebecca will deliver this established course in Ashton-under-Lyne (OL6 6AQ), offering extended time for discussion, connection and deeper exploration.

From the moment you arrive, you’ll be immersed in practical insights and legal clarity. You’ll gain hands-on strategies to:

  • Understand the legal requirements related to the Responsible Individual role.
  • Understand how to manage, support and learn from the inspection process.
  • Share best practice on effective practical systems to fulfil the Responsible Individual role.
  • Contribute to developments for improving care quality and performance of children's homes.
  • Identify support needs and learn more about the systems in place to support Responsible Individuals.

Because this is an in-person event, you’ll have the opportunity to share real-world challenges with fellow RIs from your region, forge professional connections and pick up tips you won’t find online. Rebecca’s dynamic delivery style creates space for small-group exercises, scenario-based discussions and one-to-one problem solving, so you leave not just with knowledge, but with practical tools you can put into action immediately.

Whether you’re seeking a refresher on the regulations, preparing for your first inspection or looking to benchmark your systems against sector best practice, this session will equip you with the expertise, confidence and supportive network you need. Don’t miss your chance to learn from CHQ’s pioneering course in a rich, collaborative environment.

Spaces are limited—secure your place today and take your RI role to the next level.

Your trainer, Rebecca Harrison's journey in the residential care industry has spanned over two decades, including experience working within a local authority and the private sector. Rebecca is a passionate advocate of training and safety planning. Her approach to creating safety plans is grounded in collaboration and risk sense, empowering young individuals under her care to take ownership of their safety. Her dedication to the industry inspires others who share her passion for providing care and support to those who need it most.
