About this Event
Climate change and energy transition are global issues of great concern and require joint efforts of governments, societies, and enterprises. The UK and China have jointly conducted many remarkable efforts to achieve carbon neutrality in areas such as air governance, low-carbon technology innovation, and healthcare. To address the challenges of climate change adaptation in the context of carbon neutrality, China and the UK have established a collaborative programme to promote research on climate adaptation and resilience building. Tsinghua University and University College London plan to jointly establish the China-UK Carbon Neutrality Centre, which aims to promote continuous academic exchanges and research cooperation on carbon neutrality issues between scientific research institutions in the two countries.
The event will bring together experts from leading universities in the UK, such as Imperial College London, University College London, University of Cambridge, University of Oxford, Birmingham University, and King's College London, as well as Tsinghua University from China, for in-person sessions to discuss shared priorities in tackling climate change and advancing the transition to carbon neutrality.
1. Identify Priority Topics for Collaborative Research
Explore key areas of interest in climate change and carbon neutrality, fostering mutual benefits through shared expertise and resources.
2. Highlight Successful Collaborations and Opportunities
Present examples of successful partnerships and identify growth opportunities while developing strategies to enhance future collaboration.
3. Integrate Research Insights with Policy Development
Enhance the integration of scientific research and policy-making, ensuring that findings from collaborative efforts effectively inform climate strategies in both countries.
4. Establish the Foundation for Future Scientific Cooperation
Leverage the outcomes of this workshop to initiate continued discussions on future collaborations, fostering enduring scientific partnerships and innovation between China and the UK.
