Poetry Pop-Up
About this Event
Look out for our Watershed team and their cargo bike at ‘Anchor Points’ on the city stretch of the River Clyde across two weekends (between noon and 5pm) during the Commonwealth Games.
The team will be share poetry from a specially commissioned anthology featuring river themed poems from commonwealth poets.
Poetry Pop-up is part of the wider Watershed programme of events exploring the River Clyde, nature rights and Commonwealth Rivers as part of the Merchant City Festival, held within the Briggait across two weekends of 24th-26th July and 31st July-2nd August 2026, during the Commonwealth Games.
Quayside Poetry is designed to augment civic pride in the River Clyde, an environmental, historic and culturally important part of Glasgow, which is at present underutilised, in comparison with other city centre rivers such as those running through Paris, Berlin, Belfast etc.
Watershed's Poetry Pop-ups has been developped in association with the Commonwealth Foundation and Scottish Poetry Library and is funded by the Commonwealth Games Festival 2026.
