On Monday 3rd August it’s the third installment of the new Craicfriars Comedy Open Mic at Blackfriars Basement (formerly Tennent’s Laughter Lounge on Byres Road). We may have a new venue, a new name and new socials, but it’s still the same team bringing you the best up-and-coming stand-up comedians Scotland has to offer. Joining our resident host Paddy Linton will be Mick Murphy, Eva Peroni, Jack Brookmyre and many more!
Your host for the night will be our resident compere Paddy Linton, a stand-up comedian from Blackhill, Glasgow. Paddy mixes storytelling from his working class upbringing with observations about Glasgow’s leafier suburbs. His impressive stand-up skills have fast become highly in demand at some of the best comedy shows in the country. He also co-runs the hugely popular quiz and gong shows at Blackfriars. In March 2025 he was chosen to open for Darren Connell at Glasgow’s legendary King’s Theatre. In August 2026 he will be bringing his solo show ‘Paddy Issues’ to the Edinburgh Fringe.
"He went up and smashed it... it was genuinely exciting watching him from the back and it made me remember why I love this." - Darren Connell
“Instantly likeable and effortlessly funny.” – Comedy Dundee
“Got people on side immediately” – The Stand
Just want to watch? All are welcome free of charge, but please respect the show: during performances please be seated and don’t talk or heckle. You’re welcome to arrive late or leave early, just so long as you take/leave your seats as quietly as possible.
Interested in performing? Sign-up for each show opens from Tuesday the week before, message our FB page and 5 minute slots will be allocated on a mainly first come, first serve basis. Attempts to sign-up at the wrong time, for longer spots or via the wrong channels will be ignored.
Doors to the comedy room downstairs open at 7pm. These shows run every 1st, 3rd and (occasionally) 5th Monday of the month.
