Plein Air Painting workshop with Artist Mary Nolan
$115 Members, $125 Non-Members
With our beautiful rear lawn view of Otsego Lake as inspiration, join artist Mary Nolan as she provides tips and techniques for plein air painting in oils or acrylics. Learn how to capture the changing quality of light throughout the day and create canvases on location that reflect the atmosphere in which they were made. Students do not need plein air painting experience but should have some knowledge in painting, and should bring their own acrylic or oil paints and brushes for the day. Fenimore Art Museum will supply three 8x10” canvas boards to each participant (included with workshop) but students may bring their own canvases or paper pads as well. Tabletop easels are available for use during the workshop.
Instructor Mary Nolan is a plein air painter of New England landscapes. Born in Boston, Massachusetts and raised in the New England area, her work reflects the beauty and diversity of the East Coast, from coastal marshes and beaches, to the streams, wetlands, fields, ponds and forests of central New England. Today, she lives and maintains a studio near Cooperstown, New York. An award-winning artist who has worked in various media for the past forty years, her paintings are found in many National and International collections.
