Also included with the purchase of this class is access to this session's self guided Clay Labs, of which each current student is entitled to up to three hours of per week. During Clay Lab, students will be able to hone skills and work on projects. Labs will not have an instructor but will be monitored.

Mondays, September 14 - October 26, 3-6pm

Wednesdays, September 9th - October 28th, 8:30-11am

Thursdays, September 3rd - October 29th, 12-3 and 6-9pm

Each student is entitled to up to 3 hours of Clay Lab time per week. The student can choose to use it all at once or split it up into separate days.

This eight week class is designed for adult students with some prior wheel throwing experience who are ready to expand their skills. Students will be introduced to slab building techniques using templates, patterns, and shape molds as well as altered wheel-thrown techniques to create refined functional pottery. Each session will include a mix of instruction, individualized feedback, and independent studio time. This class is ideal for those looking to deepen their relationship with clay, slow down their process, and explore new forms without total dependence on the potter’s wheel.

Liz earned a B.S. in Art Education from SUNY New Paltz, an M.S. in Art Education from The College of St. Rose, and an MFA from the Rochester Institute of Technology. She has taught at both the high school and college level, including a four-year Visiting Assistant Professorship in Ceramics at RIT’s School for American Crafts and as Artist-in-Residence at the Tainan National University of the Arts Graduate School in Taiwan. Liz has also been invited to give visiting lectures at institutions such as Skidmore College, the University of Montana, the University of Northern Colorado, Kansas State University, and Utah State University. Liz loves teaching art and believes deeply in its ability to connect us—to our own creativity and to one another. Whether in the classroom or a community ceramics studio, she sees making as a shared, human experience rooted in curiosity and connection.
