In this four-week class we will learn to make a saucer, teacup, and teapot. In session one, we will practice and play with making the different parts and experiment with potential shapes. In session two we will throw the final parts to our teapot, teacup, and saucer: the body, lid, spout, and handle. In session three we will trim and assemble our teapots and pull handles. In session fur will be focused on glazing. It is highly recommended that you do the September 2nd-23rd lidded jars class before this class.
Katie is an artist, mathematician, and experiential educator with two decades of experience in all of those areas. She is both a painter and a ceramic potter. On the wheel she makes a variety of functional work and often manipulates the forms, adds hand built parts, and interesting textures. As a teacher, she focuses on providing enough structure and guidance to motivate, challenge, and support students and provides plenty of room for students to play and find their own way to make the work their own!
