Beyond the AI hype and the metrics: two talks on thinking critically, measuring what matters, and keeping humans at the heart of UX.
About this Event

In this LTUX event, we’ll explore how UX professionals can stay critical and intentional in an increasingly automated and data-driven world. From AI reshaping the way we work to usability metrics shaping the way we make decisions, our speakers will look beyond the promises of new tools and ask what it really takes to turn technology and data into meaningful improvements.

About the Talks
The Importance of Human Intelligence in the Age of AI by

AI promises to make our work more efficient, less tedious, and easier. But what if automation sometimes has the opposite effect?

Drawing on more than 40 years of research on automation, including cognitive psychologist Lisanne Bainbridge’s influential 1983 paper The Ironies of Automation, Goda Simkonyte explores why new technologies can make work less efficient, require us to become more skilled, and even make our work less enjoyable. Rather than offering another guide on how or when to use AI, this talk invites us to look at AI as part of a longer history of workplace automation and think more critically about its unintended social, personal, and long-term consequences.

Lean Usability Tracking: From Digital B2C Platforms to Industrial B2B Software by

Continuous UX measurement doesn’t have to mean millions of respondents, complex enterprise tools, or endless dashboards. Denys Tserkovnyi shares a practical look at how lean usability tracking can work across two very different contexts: high-volume digital platforms and complex industrial software with expert users and small sample sizes.

From choosing the right metrics to automating repetitive analysis and connecting insights directly to product backlogs, this session explores how teams can build measurement systems that stay lightweight and useful.

Some questions you can think about going into the talk: How do you work with small samples? How do you prevent teams from gaming metrics? And what is the leanest setup that actually works for your product?

What you'd take away
  • A more critical perspective on AI and automation, including why the promises of new technology don’t always translate into better or easier work
  • Practical ways to make UX measurement work for your context - from choosing meaningful metrics to keeping tracking lean and actionable
  • New ways to think beyond the numbers and the hype using human judgement, meaningful signals, and real user problems to guide better decisions
