Jazz @ Noon: Nneoma Lanea at the Blue Room
About this Event
There's something about the way Nneoma Lanea performs that makes a room go quiet and then come alive. The Kansas City artist is a genuine triple threat — singer, songwriter, and saxophonist — with a sophisticated, deeply emotive sound that draws from jazz, soul, and contemporary influences and weaves them into something wholly her own.
The last year has been a big one. Her full-length album Sax in the Elevator arrived in July 2025, and her NPR Tiny Desk Contest entry "Sax'n Me" was singled out by KCUR as one of its favorite Kansas City submissions — praise for that crystal-clear voice and the way she moves between the microphone and the horn like they're two halves of the same instrument. She's also been named among the most talented saxophonists in Kansas City, and anyone who has caught her around town knows why: intimate, searching ballads one minute, dynamic improvisations that pull the whole audience in the next.
She made her Jazz @ Noon debut in March and the room has been asking for her ever since. Bring your lunch, pull up a chair, and let an hour in the middle of your Thursday turn into the best part of your week. Free admission.
