Adam Larson is the kind of saxophonist critics run out of superlatives for. Howard Reich of the Chicago Tribune called him "a player for whom the word 'prodigious' was coined." Nate Chinen of the New York Times described him as "the sort of jazz musician who gets flagged early on as a promising talent and then hustles to meet every requirement for success."

Originally from Normal, Illinois, Adam earned his bachelor's and master's degrees in jazz performance on full scholarship at the Manhattan School of Music, then spent 11 years as a fixture of the New York City jazz scene before relocating to Kansas City in 2019. He's released nine albums as a leader — including the "With Love" trilogy, with With Love, From New York and With Love, From Chicago both earning 4+ stars in DownBeat Magazine. He's a U.S. State Department "American Music Abroad" touring artist, a Grammy Foundation mentor, and the author of 12 jazz etude books sold in 45 countries.

Adam now teaches at the UMKC Conservatory and the University of Kansas, and has presented masterclasses at over 100 universities worldwide. Friday night he brings his quartet to the Blue Room for two full sets.

Two shows: 8:30 pm and 10 pm. Admission is $10 per show.
