From the rim above El Paso the whole story of the Franklin Mountains is laid out in front of you, and you barely have to walk to read it. In about a hundred feet we will take in a slice of the region's geology, with the city, the river and two countries spread out below. For anyone who wants the view and the story without the climb.

Duration: ~1 hour

Difficulty: Easy

Best for: Seniors

• Healthy snacks or energy bars
• Hiking shoes or sturdy sneakers
