About the Instructor

Mark Glenshaw is an award-winning naturalist from St. Louis, Missouri who observes, documents and performs outreach regarding the wild Great Horned Owls that live in Forest Park — a large urban park in St. Louis. He was studied these owls six to seven nights per week since December of 2005, documenting their behavior in both photos and video.

Glenshaw also received the 2025 Outstanding Educator Award from the St. Louis Audubon Society.

His outreach includes an average of 70 owl prowls and 50 presentations per year, including presentations to various Audubon Society chapters and six presentations for the Smithsonian Institution.

In 2006 Glenshaw was awarded the Citizen Science Award by the Academy of Science of St. Louis. He is also a Certified Interpretive Guide, a certified Missouri Master Naturalist and a volunteer for Forest Park Forever.
