About this Event
Join us for a two-day workshop on Gelli Plate Printing with Jerri Bartholomew!
Dates: June 7th & 8th
Time: 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Location: Pine Meadow Ranch Center for Arts & Agriculture
We are excited to welcome scientist and glass artist Jerri Bartholomew for a two-day workshop where participants will blend the tools of art and science to explore the rich ecosystem of Whychus Creek. Through fieldwork, microscopic examination, and gel printing techniques, this workshop invites participants to capture the intricate beauty of nature in new and creative ways.
Workshop Highlights:
- Fieldwork & Observation: This workshop will begin with an introduction to the intersection of art and science and how each can enrich the other. Then, participants will head into the field to map and collect botanical samples along a transect of Whychus Creek, recording data and observing the environment closely.
- Microscopic Examination: Back in the studio, participants will examine the collected materials under a microscope, revealing hidden details invisible to the naked eye. Jerri will guide attendees in exploring how changes in scale and perspective can influence your creative process.
- Gelli Plate Printing & Artistic Exploration: Learn gel printing techniques, incorporating microscopic observations into unique, layered prints. Participants will create a series of prints annotated with maps, drawings, and data, capturing the essence of this environment through both scientific and artistic lenses.
