"I Remember" - A Creative Writing & Bookmaking Playshop

Join us for the 'I Remember': Creative Writing & Bookmaking Playshop with Krayna Castelbaum!

We are excited to welcome local artist and creativity coach Krayna Castelbaum for an inspiring "playshop" (her term for workshop) that combines creative writing with handmade bookmaking. Inspired by Joe Brainard’s beloved cult classic, "I Remember", Castlebaum designed this playshop for participants to use everyday memories to evoke their own fresh, elegant simplicity and possibly heartfelt magic.

Playshop Highlights:

- Memory & Spontaneity: Guided by Castlebaum and her use of the timeless phrase "I Remember," participants will be invited to tap into memories both lighthearted and profound, weaving a tapestry of personal, idiosyncratic moments.

- Bookmaking & Personal Expression: After creating “I Remember” lines, participants will craft a simple handmade book to house them. Explore collage, color, and mark-making to give select memories a unique expression on the page.

- Inspiration from Other Writers: Attendees will start by sampling how poets and writers have used the “I Remember” prompt to capture vivid, seemingly everyday details that resonate universally.

- Sharing & Reflection: The playshop will conclude with time to reflect (sharing optional) on the writing journey and discuss creative possibilities. Take home “I Remember” handouts with tips for future exploration of this form.

This playshop is open to writers, creatives, and anyone curious to explore memory. No previous writing or bookmaking experience is required—just bring your willingness to play with words and create!

Optional Materials to Bring:

Favorite writing or drawing tools, small ephemera, or any items you’d like to include in your handmade book.

All other materials will be provided!

About the Instructor:

Krayna Castelbaum is a seasoned facilitator with over 35 years of experience guiding Creativity Playshops and other imaginative experiences. Known for her warmth and humor, Krayna fosters spaces where spontaneity, uncensored expression, and imagination converge. Her personal work spans poetry, assemblage sculpture, artist books, and collage. She currently offers transformative coaching and creative workshops in Central Oregon and beyond, honoring the powerful trio of desire, creativity, and imagination.

Cancellation Policy:

-$20 cancellation fee

-0% refund for cancellations made less than 1 week before the workshop

-50% refund for cancellations made 7-14 days before the workshop

-Full refunds will be issued if PMRCAA cancels due to inclement weather or instructor unavailability.
