Family Lantern Workshop
About this Event
Join local company Emerald Ant for some creative fun, making lanterns for two riverside processions.
The Bubbles and Squeaks project has been working with local schools to map, understand and celebrate Dorset's rivers and chalk streams, with their unique biodiversity.
Children from 5 schools have gone on dipping adventures with ecologists in West Dorset rivers, where they have discovered amazing creatures. They have been working with Emerald Ant artists to create an ensemble of river creatures for processions, the first in daylight in Cerne Abbas on 26th September, and the second, an illumianted night time event in the Powerstock area, on 17th October.
Now local families and residents, aged 6 to 100, can come along and make a speckled trout or leaping salmon lantern that will be part of the parades. There is a small charge for the workshops which includes a drink and lots of fun!
Children must be accompanied at all times by a parent or guardian. Bring a picnic lunch and dress for mess!
Once complete your amazing lantern will be left with Emerald Ant to be handed out at the events. We hope you will come and hold your lantern with pride.
